Toronto Artist Project Contemporary Art Fair, February 2019
An exhibit of sculpture and painting that is an ongoing series for Liz Rae Dalton. Created as a response to the alarming affect of heat on the upon earth's surface, sculpture and carved relief paintings were presented to the approximately 18,000 viewers of the art fair. Dalton's work explores climate tragedy veneered with beautiful encaustic paint. Does anyone notice nature under pressure? Like Polyanna, are we ignoring the signs, choosing to adore nature's beauty instead?
Surfaces are gouged, scored , carved, charred, with molten paint used in works that are beguilingly beautiful. Natural, earth sensitive and found materials are featured in these works in a panoramic display.
